One of the highest expenses for school bus fleets is the cost of fuel, but School Bus Fleet reports diesel prices are at their lowest point in 2 years and may continue to drop.
The average on-highway price for diesel in the U.S. has dropped to $3.801 per gallon as of this morning, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
A year ago, the average price was $3.974 per gallon. School Bus Fleet says the average U.S. diesel in price has been slowly declining since March 10 of this year when it peaked at $4.021 per gallon.
The latest numbers are the lowest average for diesel since July 30, 2012 when the reported average was $3.796.
