This Repurposed School Bus Brings The Sauna To You

I’ve seen a lot of imaginative repurposed school buses, from traveling homes to art studios to mobile markets. Still, this unassuming red bus that spends most of its time sitting in a field near British Columbia, Canada may take the prize.

The 1985 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner looks like most other buses aside from its dull crimson paint job, but inside it houses something no other bus has: a functioning sauna.

“It’s a hospitality suite on wheels,” said Andrea Curtis of Transformation Projects, which she owns along with Adrian Sinclair.

Transformation Projects is an events coordinator for many festivals, street parties, concerts, and other public events. One thing they thought would help bring their events to the next level was a sauna bus to have on-site.

They idea got put on the sideline, but after a few months a Danish friend and artist put the bus up for sale on Facebook. Curtis and Sinclair knew it was the perfect opportunity.

“We rushed over and bought it, this was it, our new bus,” Curtis told The Province.

The sauna, stove, four burners, and fridge all run on propane, while solar panels power all the other functions of the bus, leaving no need to run on the engine battery according to the owners. They also installed couches and cupboards.

You can see a video of the bus on The Province’s website here.
