Arizona District Brings Healthy Meals To Students Using A Converted School Bus

In the past, I’ve highlighted a few districts who use converted school buses to help feed children during the summer, and it appears the trend is catching on. Roosevelt School District in Arizona recently launched their own summer meal program using a converted school bus donated by the district’s transportation department.

Operations Specialist for Roosevelt School District Jennifer Gordon says the district noticed the intense summer heat and transportation prevented children from taking part in the summer meals program, so they created a mobile solution that brings nutritious meals to children and teens who otherwise may not have access to healthy food options.

The district retrofitted the bus to be equipped with tables and benches, as well as air conditioning to cool off.

The new program was recently highlighted by a local youth and education show and shared on YouTube. The video shows how districts can easily create their own programs using aging buses to keep their students healthy, even when school is out. Watch the video below:
