Accuride, the manufacturer of Gunite Automatic Slack Adjusters for school buses, has announced the company is extending its warranty to cover four years or 400,000 miles thanks to a recently improved manufacturing process.
The new warranty policy goes into effect April 6, 2015 and will replace the previous warranty which covered three years of 300,000 miles.
A slack adjuster is an adjusting nut on the backside of the brake drum used for adjusting the brakes.
Scott Hazlett, Accuride Senior Vice President/Operations, told School Transportation News the warranty extension follows the company’s investment in its automated state-of-the-art slack adjuster assembly operations in its Rockford, Illinois facility. Hazlett says the new assembly operations “significantly” improved quality processes for Gunite standards and Gunite 2000 ASA components.
“We are able to achieve tighter production tolerances than ever before, giving us even greater confidence in the ability of our automatic slack adjusters to dependably perform as promised, mile after mile,” he explained. “As a result, we are passing along that confidence to our customers by increasing the warranty coverage on these products to industry-best levels.”
