This Awesome Converted Bus Is Getting a Book

Hank's Bus3

I’ve showcased several converted buses to highlight the endless possibilities a school bus can offer to those who think outside the box, but all this time one of the most astounding repurposed buses I’ve seen is one of the very first I found online.

I shared architecture student Hank Butitta’s project in which he bought a used school bus and completely renovated the vehicle to transform it into a tiny mobile living space.

Perhaps the thing that puts “Hank Bought a Bus” above most of the other converted buses I’ve seen is the professional beauty that Hank was able to lend the space. However, for me the most special aspect of Butitta’s project was the dream to not just convert the bus, but to put it to the test with a cross-country road trip.

Starting in August 2013, Butitta and his brother took the bus on a 5,000 mile trip. Thankfully, they also brought a photographer with them.

Hank has shared a large amount of photos of his sleek bus and the trip it went on, but there are tons more photos of the construction of the bus and their journey. A year after they set off on the road trip, the group is trying to share those pictures through a book which they hope to fund through Kickstarter.

If you are more interested in the story of Hank’s bus and what can be accomplished with a converted bus, you might check out their website or the Kickstarter page. If you’ve ever dreamed of having your own unique home and vehicle to explore the country in, give us a call and see if a repurposed bus is right for you.
