I’m sure there are plenty of schools out there who would love to upgrade their bus fleets to more efficient alternative fuels, but it can seem impossible with ever-tightening budgets and growing schools. However, Stockton Unified School District (USD) has shown that you can afford taking the leap towards green busing if you just think outside the box.
USD used a crowdfunding campaign to raise more than $100,000 for an electric school bus project launched through GoFundMe. The schools worked with green vehicle technology company ADOMANI Inc. to raise the funds to convert a diesel school bus to an all-electric bus.
“These are exciting times for the electric bus industry,” said Jim Reynolds, ADOMANI’s new president and CEO. “The number of school and commercial applications for this product is growing every day. We at ADOMANI are looking forward to working with these forward-thinking schools in developing grid-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-grid products that serve this marketplace.”
ADOMANI was inspired to get in contact with Stockton USD after they heard of the district’s solar photovoltaic project, which can generate up to 6.7 megawatts of solar power which is used for the district’s schools and facilities.
