Every state has their own requirements and regulations for school buses, and they can be difficult to keep up with if you are running fleets across several states. While these regulations can vary quite a bit, there are also a set of federal regulations that each bus must stand up to if it will be used to transport students to and from home and school.
If you look up the regulations directly from the government, it can be hard to tell exactly what is being required through all the legal and political speak of the bills that have created the federal regulations. Trying to work through the political jargon-filled specifications can be a real pain, but thankfully others have created simple guides that explain the school bus safety mandates clearly and plainly.
The American School Bus Council shared their own guide for the laws and regulations every bus in the United States should follow in language anyone can understand. No more do you have to wade through long-winded and unclear regulations written by bureaucrats. If your buses match all of the regulations listed from the ASBC, your bus is probably ready to transport students (though you will still have to check on the state regulations, unfortunately.)
